Status: Full-time, contract until 21 December 2018, with a possibility of extension but with no guarantee.

Position Overview:

projectABLE is the student-focused component of the carecareers’ initiative, centred on an in-school workshop program led by people with disability. projectABLE is aimed at inspiring students to consider a career in the disability and community care sector.

The Student Events Coordinator is responsible for encouraging schools to participate, coordinating the delivery of student targeted events and supporting a team of people with disability to deliver successful workshops. 

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Liaise with schools, educational bodies, service providers and other relevant organisations to coordinate program of student engagement and activities including schedule of workshops and events
  • Support and coordinate a diverse team of presenters with disability to deliver successful workshops
  • Coordinate the program’s calendar of events and oversee casual staffing allocation across each activity.
  • Source potential suppliers/contractors for program events – e.g. caterers, printers, support services, as directed by Student Engagement Manager
  • Coordinate and plan the delivery of engaging presentations to educational bodies and student groups to promote the value of working within the disability and community care sector
  • Plan group training days and reflection days for projectABLE presenters as directed by Student Engagement Manager
  • Support service provider organisations in their involvement  with projectABLE
  • Coordinate projectABLE and carecareers’ involvement in various careers expos and other careers targeted events
  • Prepare materials for the team of presenters to aid them in the delivery of successful workshops.
  • Collate and compile data from program activity aimed at measuring the effectiveness of each event
  • Perform administrative tasks relevant to casual presenters’ work (travel arrangements, timesheets, staff rosters etc).
  • Seek and recommend opportunities to promote student programs
  • Provide assistance to Student Engagement Manager and  team as required
  • Other duties as required

Key Attributes

  1. Experience working with people with disability
  2. Experience and/or understanding of the disability sector and school communities;
  3. Demonstrated task, time and event management skills with the ability to organise multiple activities and the capacity to work on a range of administrative tasks simultaneously  
  4. Well-developed interpersonal and team-working skills, and proven capacity to develop networks with a range of stakeholders to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes;
  5. Demonstrated experience of supporting a diverse team to successfully attain objectives;
  6. Highly effective written and oral communication skills with a proven capacity to develop cogent reports;
  7. Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office Suite
  8. An excellent eye for detail when working on administrative tasks
  9. As occasional travel is required, independent travel capability is essential.
