CLIENT

Our client is a multinational business listed on the ASX. They provide comprehensive chemical testing services covering a wide variety of both routine and non-routine analyses.

Due to an internal promotion, they are seeking an Analytical Chemist to join their Laboratories. With excellent training programs and the opportunity to travel overseas, this provides an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual. 

ROLE

Initially a full-time, 12 month contract, this role involves working 37.5 hours a week, Monday to Friday.  With one or two years of industry experience in the use of chromatography equipment such as GC and LC, you will be conducting chemical analyses of chemicals such as oils and solid materials. 

The key responsibilities of this role will involve following:

• Use of Headspace Gas Chromatography and UPLC for the testing of various materials including insulating oils 
• Physical testing of products such as oil colour and appearance
• Assisting in the development and implementation of new test methodologies
• Calibrating and maintaining equipment as necessary to ensure quality accreditation standards. 
• Providing accurate and timely data reports for analysis by various stakeholders
• Ensuring that all work is completed in accordance with the relevant quality, workplace safety and test standards, including the application of all relevant MSDS's

SELECTION CRITERIA

We are looking for a team player who is motivated and driven to meet targets and goals!

In-order to qualify for this exciting and rare opportunity, you will need to meet the following criteria:

• A Science Degree majoring in Chemistry or similar
• A few years of experience in a laboratory
• Practical and theoretical knowledge of analytical instrumentation such as GC and UPLC is a must - Waters Empower software a plus
• Experience with Karl Fischer well regarded
• Proven experience with wet-chemistry and physical testing
• Must have good eye for detail and an appreciation for safety in the work place
• Excellent communication skills - you will be liaising with personnel of all levels of the company locally and overseas
• MUST be a good team player and reliable!
• High level of self-motivation and problem solving capability
• Excellent time management skills, attention to detail and a strong ability to multi-task.
• Key to this role will be your flexible "can do" attitude, excellent work ethic and initiative whilst working autonomously or as part of a team
