About the organisation 

The Health and Community Services Workforce Council (Workforce Council) leads and delivers workforce research, strategy and capability to position our workforce to be strong and sustainable and to make a tangible difference for the people they serve. 

For more than 25 years, we have worked closely with industry, government and the community as a peak body. 

With a focus on reconciliation and inclusion, we work collaboratively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders and community members to deliver unique and comprehensive strategies that support organisations to reflect the cultural context in which they operate. 

Our aim is to innovate and deliver services which enable workforces to be well researched, well informed, well planned, well developed, well connected and well resourced to perform. Our services include: 

  • Industry representation on workforce 

  • Research and analysis 

  • Workforce strategy 

  • Workforce capability. 

About the role 

In this role you will:  

  • Drive strategies to support the inclusion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the health and community services industry, including the delivery of professional development, facilitation and training, and resources.  

  • Support the delivery and further development of strategic workforce planning and human resource practice development services for the health and community services industries. 

  • Facilitate, deliver and further develop innovative programs and products across areas like workforce planning; human resource; and leadership 

  • Be part of a collaborative and participatory environment where you can help support Queensland's largest employing industry 

  • Support the Manager, Community Services Workforce Services through practical support, advice and the review of human resource processes as required.    

The Workforce Council has developed a range of innovative and participatory workforce planning products and services that support the health and community services industry to work well.  

This unique role will provide the successful applicant with the opportunity to support a strong and sustainable health and community services industry – building capacity and diversity and supporting cultural inclusion across the industry. 

This is a part-time position that is currently 30.4 hours per week which may be negotiable for the right applicant. 

Required knowledge and experience for this role: 

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the health and community services industry  

  • Good knowledge and understanding of cultural and social aspects unique to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. 

  • Strong understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and the ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people. 

  • Sound knowledge and understanding of workforce planning and development  

  • High level of oral, written and interpersonal communication skills  

  • Sound commercial understanding  

  • Project management or strong time management skills 

  • Ability to apply reflective practice as part of professional development and continuous improvement  

  • The ability to develop and implement workforce development offerings that contribute to cultural capability
