Cornerstone Consulting provides a complete outsourced HR as a service solution. We help with everything from leadership and culture, to recruitment and performance management.

We are seeking a highly capable HR Advisor with extensive blue-collar experience to provide long-term support to our diverse client base. Are you looking for a flexible role at a highly competitive rate? This is a flexible, part-time position allowing the successful candidate considerable flexibility and potential to work from home.

Applicants must be confident, capable and practically minded. Our client base demands pragmatic support and clear, jargon-free advice and guidance. You will need outstanding communication skills, both spoken and written and be able to quickly and effectively filter the relevant from the irrelevant.

With the support of the broader team, your responsibilities would include:

  • Providing guidance and support to business owners and managers across the whole HR spectrum.
  • Under broad direction, develop, review and implement various people policies, procedures and processes.
  • Provide support for line managers and staff seeking guidance in line with client policies
  • Conduct interviews and sit in on interviews with line managers and supervisors providing coaching, mentoring and feedback
  • Maintain current job descriptions for all roles
  • Make employment offers, prepare and issue employment contracts
  • Revise or update employment letters for existing employees
  • Manage and conduct on-boarding processes and induction programs
  • Manage and track the probationary period for new employees
  • Conduct probation reviews both independently and together with line managers.
  • Own and operate performance management in terms of KPI setting and review
  • Manage under-performance and disciplinary matters.
  • Assist with development and talent management of employees.
  • Assist the clients with the delivery of training and learning programs.
  • Identify skill gaps, plan and deliver against learning needs and priorities.
  • Coordinate employment terminations and resignations processes and documentation.
  • Conduct exit interviews and report analysis and trends.

Qualifications: extensive practical experience preferred over formal qualifications.

About you:

  • You must be capable of dealing with strong personalities who demand you cut to the chase, keep it simple and know how to drive outcomes without the waffle or complexity.
  • Having a strong ability to adapt your communication style and build client rapport is essential
  • Substantial HR/ER experience, preferably as a HR Advisor with a varied back ground in different industries
  • Hands-on SME experience very desirable
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills, grammar and spelling are critical.
  • Significant experience interpreting and complying with Awards, the Fair Work Act and other employment-related legislation.
  • Blue-collar experience essential.
  • Strong in-house recruitment experience
  • Civil construction industry experience preferred
  • 3-5 years HR generalist within the private sector
  • Experience in Injury management, DAS, IR and award interpretation
  • You have an established home office that allows you to conduct client communication uninterrupted

Competences:

  • Capable of working independently with very minimal supervision
  • Ability to prioritise and effectively manage workload
  • Experienced in the development, review and implementation of a range of human resources related policies, practices and procedures
  • A sound understanding of current employment legislation & FWA
  • Ability to liaise effectively and professionally with all internal stakeholders and external organisations
  • Able to provide advice and assist with managing conflict to resolution, you don’t shy away from the difficult conversations

  • Able to multi task and manage communication between a diverse range of clients
  • Strong role analysis and behavioural interviewing skills, as well as being able to source for cultural fit
  • Proven high level communication skills (spoken and written) including the provision of human resource advice on issues of a sensitive nature
  • Be confident and able to act professionally and assertively
  • Able to effectively interact and communicate with senior leadership and employees at all levels in the company
  • Able to collaborate with others to achieve agreed results and outcomes
  • Able to use initiative and work well, independently and as part of the broader team environment
  • Resourceful, resilient and proactive with high attention to detail
