About the Role:

Geoplex is looking for a DevOps/Support Engineer to help us build and operate AWS cloud infrastructure underpinning web and geospatial applications for the Australian Government. We’re strong advocates of fully automated deployments and infrastructure as code, and we make use of modern cloud services and DevOps tools to get the job done. You will be part of a highly skilled team delivering a new wave of innovative high-performance cloud infrastructure to the government marketplace.

What will you be involved in:

• Working in a motivated agile consulting team to deliver projects;
• Using innovative processes and tools to perform deployments in complex cloud environments;
• Promoting best practice DevOps principles e.g. infrastructure as code, CI/CD, proactive monitoring;
• Supporting structured change and release management processes;
• Operating, maintaining and monitoring production systems;
• Providing input to guide architectural and process improvements;
• Helping estimate the scope and time required to deliver projects;
• Collaborating with internal and external teams.

What we expect:

• AWS DevOps experience, with Azure experience a plus;
• Experience with modern DevOps concepts (e.g. infrastructure as code);
• Familiarity with IT and cloud security principles and best practices;
• Experience with IT Service Management processes for a production system, particularly change and release management;
• Strong knowledge of deployment and configuration technologies such as CloudFormation, Ansible, Packer, Bamboo and Docker (or similar tools);
• Experience with both Linux and Windows environments;
• Experience with database technologies like PostgreSQL, Oracle, and DynamoDB;
• An intuitive nature, with high levels of curiosity. You love to share your knowledge;
• Bachelor Degree in IT or similar, or equivalent education through your work experience (preferred);
• Experience with geospatial systems, analytics and IoT platforms is a plus;
• Australian Citizenship with the ability to obtain an AGSVA Defence security clearance.
