This Federal Government Department is well known for the implementation of national policy and programs that assist a number of stakeholders on a daily basis. Having undergone significant change recently, this Department is now expanding their exposure to cover additional scope, and is experiencing an increase in workload. Located in Woden this Government Department has a high staff retention rate due to the supportive and inclusive culture they foster.


Your new role
You will become a valued member of a small, high performing team, responsible for the implementation of Whole of Government policy across the Department. Due to the recent changes, the team is under high profile at present, and have identified the significant need for an additional member to join their team. As the APS5 in the team, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks, inclusive of:

  • High level stakeholder liaison, inclusive of coordination of working groups to identify solutions to implement Whole of Government Policy to the Department
  • Drafting of Departmental policy and procedure to implement Whole of Government Data
  • Research in relation to health and wellbeing policy, funding and policy development
  • Working to interpret and apply data during reporting processes and apply recommendations accordingly
  • Administrative support for the team as required
  • prepare ministerial submissions and correspondence, QTB’s, Estimates Briefs etc
  • undertake policy research and related project based work



What you'll need to succeed
As the successful applicant, you will express a keen desire to hit the ground running and be willing to do whatever it takes to meet team goals and objectives. You will work confidently in your own capacity, but will also have proven experience working effectively as a member of a high performing team. You will have strong written skills, and be able to confidently interpret and apply policy during reporting processes. You will possess articulate communication skills, both verbally and in writing, and enjoy working directly with a variety of stakeholders to achieve set objectives. You will have prior experience in a similar role, preferably in a Federal Government environment. You will be an Australian Citizen, and hold, or be willing to obtain, an NV1 Security Clearance.
