Clare Country Club, located in the Clare Valley wine region, boasts 64 accommodation rooms, Conners Restaurant & Bar and a standalone Clare Convention Centre ideal for conferences and functions. Adjacent the Clare golf course, Clare Country Club is managed by 1834 Hotels and offers a range of resort facilities.

We are currently seeking a full-time Business Development Manager, this exciting role is based at the Clare Country Club with a requirement to travel from time to time. In this role, you will be instrumental in growing conferencing and events, utilising the various function facilities within the hotels, as well as groups and overall occupancy. Reporting to the General Manager, you will actively seek out new business, follow up and convert enquiries to achieve sales and revenue targets.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Driving MICE business into the Clare Country Club for the purpose of increasing sales, in the local, interstate and international conference and event markets
  • Prospect for new business via telemarking & face to face meetings.
  • Preparing proposals for accommodation and events
  • Proactively grow and maintain a portfolio of corporate accounts for events
  • Work in conjunction with 1834 Hotels on specific strategic and tactical marketing initiative
  • Promote all facilities of the hotels and cross sell
  • Monitor competitor activities
  • Host familiarisations and site inspections
  • Generate reports as requested by management
  • Represent the company at industry and client events where required
  • Working within a team environment and contributing to sales and marketing strategies

The successful applicant must possess:

  • A passion for sales and driving new business
  • Proven ability to build and maintain professional relationships with internal and external clients
  • A track record of increasing sales and building business in designated markets to 'hit the ground running'.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • High level of attention to detail as well as an outgoing friendly nature
  • Effective time management skills and experience in liaising with multiple stakeholders and managing a portfolio of major accounts.
  • The ability to actively hunt and secure new business
  • Strong administration and coordination skills and have the ability to prioritise and achieve deadlines
  • Committed to delivering exceptional customer service and pride yourself in going above and beyond for the team at large
  • Flexible and have a desire to work in a dynamic, fast paced team. 
  • An understanding of hotels and or the travel & hospitality industry
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft office
  • A passion for and commitment to delivering exceptional, pro-active service.
  • Experience working independently and as part of an energetic, hands on sales team
  • Experience in event and or accommodation sales would be an advantage
