Job description:
• Writing news reports, commentaries, articles and feature stories for magazines on topics of public interest
• Periodically writing columns for the magazine which usually deals with specific issues related to the magazine's mission
• Collecting and researching facts about newsworthy events in the community and write relevant articles and news
• Making decisions about the specific content of edition in conjunction with other editors and in accordance with editorial policies and guidelines
• Determining advertising approaches by consulting clients and studying products to address its principle selling features
• Reviewing draft for edition to ensure conformity with accepted rules of grammar, style and format, coherence of story, and accuracy, legality and probity of content
• Describing, implementing, and regularly reviewing policies for handing ethical issues and allegations or finds of misconduct by editing authors
Essential Selection Criteria:
• Reading – Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents
• Writing – Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience
• Critical Thinking – Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
• Quality Control Analysis – Conducting tests and inspections of products, services or evaluate quality of works
• Time Management – Managing one’s own time and the time of others related parties
• Active Learning – Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making
• Bilingual Language – Proficient language skills including listening, speaking, reading and writing in both English and Chinese are required
