Library & Learning Resources are seeking to appoint a full time (37 hours) Systems Development Officer to join the Library Systems & Resource Administration team.

Responsible for the management and provision of all library resources to our customers, and with a strong commitment to customer service, this new team offers an exciting opportunity to be involved in delivering services across electronic, print and digital environments.

Having recently been reaccredited with a national Customer Service Excellence award and with a commitment to business process mapping, we are looking to build on a strong history of developing library systems and services to explicitly meet the requirements of our users. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping us to understand these requirements and to both manage and continue to develop the department’s key systems, including the library management system, reading list platforms and discovery tools.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and the ability to organise and structure their work within project frameworks. Training will be provided, but candidates will need experience in the administration of systems and the ability to work with suppliers to meet service needs.

For an informal discussion and further information around any of these areas, please contact Paul Williams ([email protected]).

The successful candidate will have:

  • A good honours degree, alternative professional or vocational qualification such as a Diploma in Business Analysis or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in the administration of library systems such as library management systems or library web platforms
  • Experience of business process analysis gained on projects
  • Experience of creating and contributing to project documentation as well as in the successful delivery of projects
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to write high quality reports and deliver presentations to a wide range of audiences
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to lead, negotiate, persuade and influence

Library and Learning Resources provides services at several University campus locations across the city and across extended hours. The post holder will be expected to operate across all campus locations.

In order to be considered for the role, please ensure you attach a CV and Cover Letter to your application. Candidates are advised to remove personal details from their CV including name. Your CV must evidence how you meet the requirements of the post, with particular reference to the personal specification.

Interviews will be held week commencing Monday 2nd October 2017.
