Applications are invited for a Research Assistant to join the Dementia Research Centre (DRC), an established and internationally regarded multi-disciplinary research group. The post-holder will be part of a research programme dedicated to the detailed characterization of frontotemporal dementia (FTD) and its associated disorders, motor neurone disease, corticobasal syndrome and progressive supranuclear palsy. The programme aims to provide the evidence base for future clinical trials in this important condition.
The post-holder will participate in the image analysis activities of the FTD studies at the DRC and the wider international collaborative FTD studies that the DRC are involved in, particularly the Genetic FTD Initiative (GENFI) study. Tasks will include upload, curation, quality control, segmentation and analysis of brain imaging (mainly magnetic resonance imaging, MRI).
Candidates must have a degree (minimum Upper Second) in Psychology, Neuroscience or related discipline, have IT proficiency at advanced user level and possess good inter-personal skills with an ability to work co-operatively in a multidisciplinary setting. Candidates must have demonstrable understanding of MR imaging and knowledge of and interest in dementia research.
The post is available from September 2017 and is funded by the MRC for one year in the first instance. Starting salary on the UCL grade Grade 6B in the range £29,809 to £31,432 per annum (including London Allowance)
