Detail information about job Professorship for Political Theory. Terms and conditions vacancy
The University of Zurich invites applications for a
Professorship for Political Theory
The position should be filled by August 1, 2018. Depending on the qualifications of the appointee, the professorship will take the form of a chair (full or associate professorship) or an assistant professorship with tenure track.
The focus of the position is on political institutions, preferably in relation to questions of democracy. Candidates should have a broad and internationally recognized research track record in the study of the development, functioning and/or effects of political institutions, or demonstrate the potential to develop such a record. The specific substantive or geographic focus of the position is open and can include local, national, and international institutions. Competences in positive political theory, formal modeling, and/or the analysis of the empirical implications of theoretical models are an advantage.
The position is located in the Department of Political Science (IPZ), which provides a dynamic and collaborative international environment for teaching and research. The department offers generous research and teaching support. In addition, the holder of the position is eligible to apply for Swiss National Science Foundation funding, as well as many other grant programs in Switzerland and the European Union.
Candidates should hold a PhD degree in Political Science at the time of application and have an excellent record of academic achievements in the relevant field. Teaching may be carried out in English. Since administrative work is conducted in German at the University of Zurich, non-German speaking candidates are expected to acquire a working knowledge of German within the first three years of appointment. In order to increase the number of women in leading academic positions, we specifically encourage women to apply.
The closing date for applications is September 10, 2017. Details on the application procedure are available on www.phil.uzh.ch/jobs.html. For further information please contact Prof. Fabrizio Gilardi ([email protected]).
