Full-time Temporary (3 Years)

Applications are invited for a Research Fellow post researching the use of information theory in software testing. This post will be within the Software Engineering Lab of Brunel’s Department of Computer Science. The position will be funded by the EPSRC for 3 years in the first instance. Starting grade and spine point will be determined according to the experience and skills of the successful candidate.

The main duties and responsibilities of the Research Fellow will be to carry out and document research experiments, contribute to writing research papers, and develop software tools that automate and embody the results of the research.

The Research Fellow will need to have good communication skills in order to liaise effectively with industrial partners over acquisition of data and use of software tools and participate in general research communication activities such as videos, press articles and workshops.

The Research Fellow will have the opportunity to further extend and develop their knowledge of and expertise in program analysis, software testing and information theory whilst within the role.

Candidates are expected to hold a PhD in a relevant subject, or shortly will be assessed for a PhD level qualification. Proof of publication in relevant leading peer reviewed conferences and/or journals is essential along with experience in experimental software engineering, including software testing. Experience in software development and knowledge of both static and dynamic program analysis techniques as well as information theory is desirable.
