An exciting opportunity exists to join the team at the Nelson Environment Centre (NEC) in a Business/Development Manager Position as part of our management team.
NEC was founded in 1976 and is the longest established such centre in New Zealand. NEC's mission is to connect practical action, education and leadership to eliminate waste, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote low-impact renewable energy resources. NEC has about 20 staff and runs a range of projects and programs from it's Ecoland site on Vanguard Street, where the Business/Development Manager would be based, and also operates the Nelson Reuse & Recycle Centre (NRRC) on Vivian Place in Tahunanui.
The principal focus of the Business/Development Manager position is a combination of business planning, financial oversight, staff and organisational management, including health and safety, human resource, employment relations, and management of IT and other assets. The expectation is that the Business/Development Manager fosters a staff team approach, reporting to the Board and servicing the Board, and working on additional income streams.
This is a 30-35 hrs per week permanent position.
You will have a passion for environmental issues and have a range of business, financial and staff management experience and skills. You are someone who has strong business and social enterprise acumen and are able to engage and work with a wide range of people.
