The Chief Operating Officer reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and is the leader of a large geographically dispersed team that delivers invaluable services to NZ Inc. With responsibility for leading the regional operations teams, the role is accountable for delivering customer- centered services, that draw on the strength of connections with communities, partners and government.

  
The purpose of the Chief Operating Officer role is to:
  • lead and enable the organisation’s operations and service delivery people;
  • strengthen and continuously improve operational and contractual performance;
  • create change momentum that delivers operational efficiencies and cost savings;
  • develop and enhance a values based high performance culture;
  • drive a collaborative effort to lead the transformation of services and the ongoing review of the operating model;
  • deliver on the annual operations budget's to support ongoing sustainability and success;    
  • be the ‘glue’ that binds strategy and corporate functions with regional operations; and
  • initiate and develop meaningful engagement with stakeholders, partners and the government. 

The successful candidate will demonstrate a track-record in senior operational leadership roles, where the achievement of improved performance, operational efficiencies and cost savings are key success factors. Your ability to think critically and make well-balanced, logical and reasoned decisions, while managing conflicts and risk will be evidenced, as will your advanced competencies in people leadership and influencing.

Given the backdrop of change, you will have experience leading teams and organisations through significant transformation. More broadly, you will be able to take a vision, idea or concept and translate it into specific operational plans, activities and actions and then integrating them across multiple functions.
