The Business:

 First Gas Limited owns and operates New Zealand’s high pressure gas transmission system, which transports natural gas from Taranaki to industrial consumers throughout the North Island. Our transmission assets span more than 2,200 kilometres, include numerous compressor stations and an underground gas storage site. These are collectively valued at more than $1 billion. Supplementing its transmission system, First Gas owns gas distribution networks that supply more than 60,000 North Island businesses and homes.  The Role:

The role is based in New Plymouth within our Information Services Group and will be responsible for managing our data and increasing the value of the data we have. The candidate is expected to have a clear vision of data being managed as an asset and data-driven decision-making. This role is primarily responsible for operationalizing that vision.

This role is part data strategist and adviser, part steward for improving data quality, part evangelist for data sharing, part technologist, and part developer of new data products.

 Who we are looking for:

 As the Data Analyst, you will improve links between siloed databases and data stores making information/data easier to find and consume. We are looking to lower the cost of managing and consuming data as we are having to manage more data. The successful candidate will improve data quality and how we measure data quality, improve how we collect, use, manage and publish data.

 The Candidate:

 Our ideal candidate will possess:

  •  A tertiary qualification in computer science, business or a related discipline
  • Proficiency in data analytics processes
  • Experience with working in the Oil and Gas industry on gas pipelines and facilities
  • Comprehensive multi-discipline technical and construction knowledge
  • Expertise at building and maintaining genuine internal and external relationships at all levels of organisations
  • Detailed oriented with excellent verbal and written skills
  • Numeric reasoning and logic skills
  • A commitment to all Health and Safety requirements
  • Ability to problem solve and inherently curious
