Our client is a well reputed New Zealand organisation within the marine industry and who are specialists at designing, developing and manufacturing consumer electronic products that contain superior, cutting edge technology critical for the marine industry.
 
A newly created and awesome role has become available for a technically minded and experienced Backend Developer.  You are looking to take that next step and transition into a more senior or leadership role and as you know the ins and outs of IoT backends, this is going to be the role for you.  You’re dynamic, proactive, creative and have a passion for the latest technologies.  You have the mindset that drives you to take ownership and responsibility and this role allows you the scope to choose the platforms and tools you work on, a team of web app developers to guide, and you will also be responsible for managing the delivery of projects. 
 
The ideal skills and experience we are looking for are: 

• Proven experience in backend and web app development essential
• Solid AWS skills and experience is essential (EC2, IoT, S3, SES, SNS, SQS, IAM, Lambda, Cognito, etc)
• Elasticsearch (preferred but could be some other NoSQL database)
• PKI, security, authentication
• Design for high availability and scalability
• Ruby (preferred but could be Python or Node.js)
• Design and implementation of RESTful API's
• Websockets or similar
• Linux (admin is best but at least comfortable with command line utilities)
• Project management or project leadership experience
