Higgs Construction is a long standing locally owned Canterbury construction company. We have a large team with over 80 people across the business. Our projects range from Hospitals, Churches, commercial, residential, industrial, schools, Medical Centres to aged care.

About the role

An excellent opportunity is available for an experienced Office Accounts Manager to join a very successful Canterbury company. This position offers diversity and challenges for someone who is a natural all-rounder.
The main role will be ensuring the efficient management of the daily and monthly finances and general office duties, while providing support to the management team.

Skills and experience

Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Accounts experience incl. General Ledger/Profit Loss/ Balance Sheets
  • Accounts payable and receivable
  • GST & PAYE returns.
  • General Office duties i.e. Reception, Administration
  • Ability to work effectively by yourself and as part of a team.

Key Skills Required:

  • At least 2 years accounts and administration experience preferably within the construction sector.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks/ MYOB or similar.
  • Computer literacy including Microsoft Word & Excel and a strong attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Flexibility to perform other administrative tasks
  • Microsoft publisher or Adobe InDesign experience would be useful
  • Ability to manage an administration team member
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • To be able to take responsibility, accountability and ownership of your role.
