The Australian Wine Research Institute (AWRI) is the Australian grape and wine industry’s own research organisation. It supports a sustainable and successful grape and wine industry through world class research, practical solutions and knowledge transfer. The AWRI has strong links with the wine industry and other research organisations both nationally and internationally and provides a stimulating and challenging work environment.
Applications are invited for the position of Technical Officer to support research projects based at the AWRI, at the Waite Research Precinct in Adelaide. The Technical Officer will provide analytical and technical support for projects which investigate volatile flavour compounds in grapes and wine. The successful candidate will perform analysis of samples by GC-MS and LC-MS, including preparation of extracts, and will provide support for viticultural, fermentation and other experiments.
The ideal candidate will have a degree in chemistry with exposure to analytical chemistry techniques; be an excellent communicator and team player; and have a high level of integrity and scientific curiosity. Experience in gas chromatography (GC, GC-MS) is highly desirable. While this is a full-time position, there is potential for a job-sharing arrangement and applicants who are seeking a part-time role are welcome to apply.
