About the role:
We are seeking an experienced lawyer with people management and leadership capabilities to join our specialist team in this senior role. You will support the Managing Lawyer in the day to day management of the Indictable Crime team and supervise and mentor a committed and highly skilled team of legal and administrative staff. You will also act as a Senior Lawyer to provide high quality legal services including court advocacy, complex casework and duty lawyer services with a focus on indictable crime.

You will lead community legal education projects, law reform and other VLA projects as required. You will also assist in the development and implementation of strategies to improve client service, and maintain a thorough understanding of issues impacting the justice system.

About you:

You will have demonstrated capacity to work as an advocate and caseworker in complex indictable matters, with substantial knowledge and practical legal experience in the law of evidence. You will have the ability to provide strategic advice on legal and policy issues, with a demonstrated understanding of community and welfare groups and the role they play in the delivery of our services. 

You will have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of clients and stakeholders. Crucial to your success in this role will be your collaborative approach and leadership potential, with demonstrated experience in developing staff and building team morale.
