The Underwriting Portfolio Manager is accountable for a mixed portfolio of general liability and professional risk products, which make up a long tail portfolio. Reporting into the Chief Underwriting Officer, the appointee will hold complete responsibility for this portfolio, developing business plans to deliver profitable results and meet strategic targets, while directly underwriting large, complex cases. The position will also be the technical referral point for the wider underwriting team, and will take the lead on increasing the team’s capability and individual authority limits by sharing knowledge and providing appropriate technical training solutions.
You are an established technical underwriter or senior placement broker with proven portfolio management, and deep experience in general liability and ideally professional lines insurance. You are self-directed, happy to impart your extensive knowledge internally, and comfortable in forming strong professional relationships with a large, diverse stakeholder group of brokers and clients. You write exemplary reports and are confident presenting the narrative back to the executive team. Having the agility to keep up with ongoing industry changes, you thrive in an influential and highly accountable position, while enjoying adding value through strategic and commercial partnership.
