Do work that matters

As General Insurance Data Analyst, you will be responsible for insurance pricing and targeting related project work across the CommInsure General Insurance (GI). Your role will encompass a hands-on approach to data management, working closely with your colleagues in Project Keystone, GI Product and the GI Pricing and Analytics team plus others throughout the business to achieve optimum outcomes to the strategic Project Keystone.

The Project Keystone team is responsible for quantifying the impact of incidents, determining customers affected, and remediating customers as soon as possible. This is your chance to make a mark on the future of one of Australia’s largest general insurers.

You will report directly into the Actuarial Information and Delivery Manager of General Insurance, who is responsible for the availability and integrity of GI data to both the pricing team and other stakeholders throughout the business and the Project Keystone remediation stream scrum master

 

On any given day you will

 

  • Provide the data needed for remediation and system improvement under Project Keystone. Reporting to the Actuarial Information and Delivery Manager of General Insurance and the Project Keystone remediation stream scrum master, the role requires independent analytical, technical and problem solving skills.
  • Work closely with the raw data, you will be responsible for creating quantitative deliverables with fast turnaround and technical solutions to insurance problems, developing robust SAS, SQL and other data-driven code.

 

Examples include:

  • Work alongside the project team and actuarial pricing team to develop and maintain the foundational data for their analysis, including the calculation of earned premium, exposure, inforce policies, and new business, renewal and cancellation rates
  • Simulate and reconcile the insurance pricing algorithm
  • Work with business pricing to implement customer targeting models in group infrastructure
  • Discover and interrogate new data sources
  • Automate premium accuracy controls
  • Work with Enterprise Services (I.T.) to determine accurate end-to-end premium to customers.

We’re interested in hearing from people who possess:

  • An undergraduate degree in numerate discipline e.g. actuarial studies, mathematics/statistics or programming
  • Experience in data processing and programming e.g. SAS, SQL, R
  • Familiar with data management platforms and analytics workbenches desirable
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • The ability to work independently and think creatively
  • Technical business analysis (‘tech BA’) skills valued
  • Undertake and prioritize a queue of multiple tasks
  • Coordinate work streams
