Novotel Wollongong Northbeach is seeking an Operations Manager with a strong Food & Beverage background to develop, lead and take the team on an exciting new journey! You will be experienced, personable, organised, self-motivated and customer focused. This is a fantastic career opportunity and a proven pipeline to a General Manager position. The previous 4 employees in this very role have progressed in their careers and have grown to be Accor General Managers. 
 
The Role:
Reporting to the General Manager, you will play a significant role in the long-term planning of the hotel, including being involved in initiatives geared toward operational excellence. This includes evaluation of guest feedback, managing all front of house departments including Food and Beverage and Front Office. You will also be responsible for setting departmental targets and objectives, work schedules, budgets, and policies and procedures so that all staff are up to date and on board with company objectives.
 
Key Attributes:
  • Coordinate and manage the day to day operations of the hotel while maximising profitability and meeting customer’s needs.
  • Oversee activities directly related to making products or providing services.
  • Review financial statements, sales and activity reports, and other performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement and to determine areas needing cost reduction and program improvement.
  • Establish and implement departmental policies, goals, objectives, and procedures, conferring with the General Manager, and staff members as necessary.
  • Take every opportunity to be a “salesperson” by active selling of special promotions and facilities available within the Hotel.
  • Achieve a level of service quality and professionalism that consistently meets and preferably exceeds the expectations of guests.
  • Ensure that strategies and practices are in place to facilitate the efficient and effective staffing of departments to achieve financial and service quality targets.
  • Implement Accor training initiatives with particular emphasis on coordinated and structured on job training aligned with service standards and service procedures.
  • Achieve effective communication by actively encouraging transparent communication with all departments within the Hotel.
  • Attend to major operational problems and needs promptly including customer complaints, enquiries and requests. Practice positive problem solving in all aspects of customer service.
  • Encourage customer feedback regarding product and services in the Hotel. Listen to and take action on this feedback.
Must haves:
  • Solid background in all front of house activities
  • Previous experience in 4/5 Star at a similar level
  • Demonstrated leadership and vision in managing staff groups and major projects or initiatives.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style.
  • Budget development and oversight experience
  • A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards and a diverse workplace
  • Excels at operating in an fast pace, community environment
  • Excellent people manager, open to direction and +Collaborative work style and commitment to get the job done
  • Ability to challenge and debate issues of importance to the organisation.
  • Ability to look at situations from several points of view
  • Persuasive with details and facts
  • Delegate responsibilities effectively
  • Attentive and have an eye for detail
  • RSA & RCG Certificate is essential.
