About the Role:

Based at our Yallourn Campus, an exciting opportunity exists for a suitably experienced Canteen Assistant to join our team.  As part of this role you will be responsible for the preparation and serving of food and beverages to Federation Training Staff and Students, providing excellent customer service whilst maintaining a safe and hygienic workplace.  

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and serve food and beverages to customers for the duration of the Canteen opening hours
  • Clean cafe espresso coffee machine on a daily basis to appropriate operating standards
  • Maintain cleanliness of the Canteen both front and back of house, including washing dishes and kitchen cleaning, ensuring it is presented in a hygienic manner
  • Assist with maintenance of stock levels
  • Process cash register transactions
  • Assist in the provision of catering services in line with catering requests

To be Successful in this Position you will need:

  • Experience in the hospitality industry including coffee making and cafe environments
  • Appropriate Safe Food Handling Certificate
  • Knowledge of and experience in running a canteen including barista skills
  • Some cookery and preparation skills
  • A thorough understanding of occupational health and safety and safe food handling practices.

Successful applicants must hold a current driver’s licence and will be required to satisfy a National Police Records Check and a Victorian Working with Children Check.
