The Northern Hospital is an urban district hospital located inthe Northern Suburbs of Melbourne, approximately 30minutes’ drive from the CBD. Our ED is a  mixed adult andpaediatric emergency department that services an expanding  corridor between Melbourne’s vibrant inner North and theleafy Great Dividing Range.  2017 ED census  96000 patients. We are seeking an additional 2.5 FTE Emergency Physicians to add to our 23 Emergency and 3.3 Paediatric Emergency Physician FTE to supervise a growing team of ACEM registrars,HMOs, Nurse Practitioners and interns. 

Our team is a dynamic group with a wide range of interests and a willingness to embrace change.  We enjoy collaborative relationships with our nursing, allied health and inpatient medical colleagues who share our passion for innovation and commitment to timely evidence based care. Northern Health is now well established on a progressive journey of improvement that is set to continue with recently announced $163M funding of new wards, theatres and critical care spaces. An extensive expansion and renovation of the ED was completed in 2015.

Successful applicants must hold fellowship with the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine and be prepared to work with both adult and paediatric presentations. We are keen to find dynamic and forward thinking clinicians, with a commitment to the improvement of both quality and efficiency of care.
