Salary: $103,441.54 - $106,024.77

Position Summary:

A vacancy exists in the above unit for a highly motivated Family Therapist with appropriate knowledge and skills to join our friendly and supportive team. Our progressive and innovative team offers development opportunities for our staff and a caring environment for the delivery of high quality patient centred care. The successful applicant will be expected to be able to deliver high quality, professional treatment to young people who use methamphetamine, cocaine and MDMA and/or their families.



This position will work Stimulant Services as part of the Alcohol and Drug Service, St Vincent’s Health Network Sydney. The Family Therapist will engage young people and their families, in brief intervention, case management, and family based counselling interventions within a harm minimisation framework. The position is also responsible for building and enhancing partnerships with internal and external services.

Selection Criteria:

  • Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in psychology, social work or other relevant behavioural sciences and eligibility for membership of the relevant professional association.
  • Demonstrated advanced relevant clinical experience working with adolescents and young people and their families utilising evidence based individual and family focused interventions.
  • Demonstrated understanding of theoretical frameworks underlying youth and family interventions.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development of clinical services and implementation of innovative and evidence based clinical interventions.
  • Demonstrated capacity to develop and maintain partnerships with other health services and external agencies.
  • Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication as well as interpersonal skills as well as High level computer skills: Microsoft Office, Patient Record Systems.
  • Current NSW Category 3 driving licence.
