The Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre at the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre (VCCC) is Australia’s only public hospital solely dedicated to cancer and one of an elite group of hospitals worldwide to have its own integrated cancer research program and laboratories.
The Cancer Surgery Department is a growing, academically based group of surgeons delivering surgical care to cancer patients. Surgeons carry out their work in a multi-disciplinary environment within a sub-specialty service dedicated to the management of head & neck cancer.
Surgical caseload includes the treatment of all head & neck, thyroid, salivary and complex skin cancers.
The role is supported by the Head & Neck Surgery Fellow, junior shared hospital medical officers, Head & Neck Cancer Nurse Coordinator and the Service Secretary. Daily workload involves operating, outpatient clinics, multidisciplinary meetings, surgical audit and participation in the activities of the Division of Cancer Surgery including access to research opportunities.
Previous experience in ENT, Head & Neck surgery is mandatory.
