Toowong Private Hospital (TPH) is a private acute mental health service located 5 kilometres from Brisbane's city centre. The Hospital provides a range of treatment programs across inpatient, day patient and community settings.
Toowong Private Hospital is seeking an Enrolled Nurse with mental health experience to work on a casual basis to contribute to the delivery of our Tailored Therapy Program to day patients and inpatients of our 58 bed acute adult unit.
The role of the Enrolled Nurse is to work collaboratively with members of a multidisciplinary team and under the supervision and direction of a Registered Nurse or member of allied health to:
- Co-facilitate psycho-education groups;
- Co-facilitate behavioural activation outings;
- Support patients to participate in a variety of different diversional activities, including painting, hand craft, board games, and puzzles;
- Clinically assesses a patient’s mental and physical health including observing concentration and attention, social interaction, participation, etc. and report to the clinical team.
The successful applicant will be employed on a casual basis subject to their availability and the needs of the Hospital. The hours of work will be 8.00am to 1.30pm and may include week end shifts. To be successful in the role, the Enrolled Nurse should possess:
- Registration as an Enrolled Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. Completion of a medication endorsement is desirable.
- A minimum of one years experience working in an acute mental health service
- Demonstrated skills in the monitoring, assessment, intervention and evaluation of individual’s mental health and physical status.
- High level of communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to facilitate therapeutic group discussions
- Strong customer focus with a commitment to achieving excellent outcomes for patients and their families
- Ability to organise and prioritise workload, and to seek appropriate supervision where necessary.
