About the role

  • As the Building Compliance Officer you will undertake assessment and review of complex development applications, provide expert technical advice to a variety of internal and external stakeholders and oversee the identification and action on non-compliant building work.
  • The Salary Range for this position is $75,536.36 - $78,747.08 gross per annum plus 17.5% annual leave loading and up to 12.4% superannuation.

How to be successful in this position - Success Criteria

  1. The manadatory qualifications and experience listed in the "Success Criteria" of the Position Description.
  2. Knowledge of, and the ability to interpret, legislation, technical manuals and codes related to regulatory building functions, as required by local government, in particular the Building Act 1975, the Sustainable Planning Act 2009, the Planning Act 2016, the Building Code of Australia.
  3. Demonstrated high level oral communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to communicate, negotiate and mediate effectively with people at levels and from all backgrounds with the ability to act tactfully in sometimes very sensitive situations.
  4. High level written communication skills which allow the formulation of concise and accurate investigation memos, reports and correspondence.
  5. Experience in managing multiple tasks with the ability to plan, organise and prioritise your work, and manage resources to reach successful solutions for the work area for which you are responsible.
  6. Proven ability to work within a team, share your knowledge skills and experience with other staff members, maintain effectiveness and motivation, and respect and accept requests, directions and workforce change from supervisory staff with a positive, team oriented attitude.
