You will provide support to the Nurse Unit Manager in the leadership of nurses within the Older Persons Mental Health Service at Northgate House. Promoting continuity and consistency of mental health nursing care, you will contribute to the implementation of practice changes and undertake service management responsibilities. These will include performance management processes, recruitment, staffing, leave management, rostering, work allocation and attendance management; financial and supplies planning and monitoring. Utilising your nursing skills and knowledge, you will support and work collaboratively with less experienced members of the Northgate House team. The mental health system is focused on improving service integration, governance, population based services, consumer and carer engagement, and recovery focused care.
You will be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and hold or be eligible to hold a current practicing certificate. Tertiary qualifications in Mental Health or Aged Care nursing or a human services related discipline are desirable. With prior experience in management and leadership roles, you will be capable of giving supervision to student nurses, enrolled nurses and less experienced registered nurses. You will use your effective communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills to maintain a cohesive multidisciplinary team and resolve local or immediate nursing care problems.
