We are looking for an Administration Officer to join our Government Client based in Canberra.  This is an excellent opportunity to grow and develop your customer service skills whilst gaining a foot in the door with a Government Organisation.  
Job Description
The security vetting team (SVT) is located in HR Operationse and are responsible for ensuring that all staff and contractors that have access to site premises or information hold the appropriate level of clearance. We support all areas of business to ensure that people who work in or for the buseinss are of high integrity and appropriate for the position they work in prior to being allowed access to premises or information. 


An Administration Officer is accountable under general direction to undertake a range of moderately complex procedural, operational and administrative activities, largely governed by set procedures and policies including research and analysis activities. 
 
The successful candidate will liaise with security clearance subjects and internal stakeholders on security clearance matters and may be required to undertake ad hoc tasks/projects. They will be a contact for the departments ASCC (Annual Security Clearance Check) process which will involve managing/responding to ASCC email/phone enquiries. They will update Human Resource systems to redirect automated ASCC workflows and undertaking administrative functions relating to security clearance management/maintenance.

  • Be accountable for managing allocated resources, setting work area priorities, managing workflows, developing strategies and evaluating business outcomes 
  • Be accountable for accurate completion of work within timeframes and quality requirements; share own expertise with others and guide and mentor less experienced employees 
  • Engage with stakeholders on complex and sensitive issues to provide or obtain information or to influence them to recognise a particular situation 
  • Work collaboratively, consult and share information with own team and seek input from others to achieve business outcomes 
  • Modify activities and processes affecting how work is performed in compliance with legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks 
  • Address issues in the work environment, devise action plans and advance new approaches 
  • Frequently resolve problems using professional knowledge and experience, including identifying and developing ideas, analysing alternative courses of action and their implications 
  • Understand, analyse and interpret; legislation, policies, strategies and business or team plans and apply these in the work area 
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the broader impacts and implications of the work area 
  • Analyse, interpret and apply established technical, operational, professional and/or administrative activities, procedures and practices 
 
About You

  • Certificate III and/or IV (or equivalent) in Government (Personnel Security)/previous exposure to security work environments would be beneficial

Eligibility
To be eligible for employment at this federal department, you must meet the following minimum requirements:
  • Hold Australian Citizenship or be a permanent residence for a minimum of a 5 year footprint
  • Be willing to undergo an Australian Federal Police Check
  • Be willing and eligible to obtain a security clearance to the appropriate level, if applicable to the position
