About the role:
The Regional Waste and Environmental Manager will be responsible for managing Environmental & Waste Services Programs and Landfill / Recovery facilities within the East Arnhem region in accordance with Council policies and legislative requirements.
To be successful in this role, you will possess the following:
- A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in Environmental Health or Environmental Engineering.
- Demonstrated experience in project management with the ability to effectively coordinate stakeholders involved in each project.
- Ability to communicate effectively at a high level with a range of people in Government Agencies, Indigenous Community and Local Boards.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Proficiency in Computer Software packages, including databases and Microsoft Office suite.
- Willingness to travel and stay in remote Communities via 4x4 and light aircraft.
- Hold a current 'C' Class Driver's Licence, HR or willingness to obtain.
It would be desirable if you also possessed:
- Previous experience working or living within an Indigenous setting and ability to demonstrate a high level of cross cultural awareness in the workplace.
- Awareness of issues affecting Indigenous people to ensure effective participation in across-cultural environment.
What you'll get in return:
A full time fixed term (2 years) contract receiving a base salary of $114,817.68 before superannuation. You will benefit from 6 weeks of annual leave with 17.5% leave loading. Your subsidised accommodation is based in the township of Nhulunbuy and you can expect to pay $75 per week. Relocation and repatriation assistance will be provided to the successful applicant.
