Reporting to the Superintendent Engineering Support the Lead Engineer Electrical within the Governance & Technical Stewardship Engineering Support team, provides electrical engineering leadership and technical expertise to the Olympic Dam Asset. You will act as a mentor and influential people leader to the wider engineering group for the Electrical discipline.

 This position is Adelaide based with regular visits to site. 

In this role you will:

• Be first and foremost focused on creating a culture of care by being a visible safety leader, engaging, developing and coaching your team in achieving continuous safety improvement
• Lead a team of electrical engineering professionals to provide technical support across the Operation, while acting as part of the Engineering Support lead team
• Mentor, coach and develop the wider Engineering and Technical Stewardship group, specifically the Electrical Engineering team to achieve success
• Prioritise, review and manage the effective delivery of ERN’s (Engineering Request Notifications) & other technical engineering activities
• Monitor and report to stakeholders status, progress and updates related to the Engineering Support activities
• Ensure that the required BHP engineering standards are used as the basis of design for projects and work with the Standards and Governance Engineers to ensure Engineering Standards are improved and maintained
• Provide technical guidance to support third parties to align with BHP engineering standards
• Support and facilitate electrical engineering activities across all projects and operations to ensure consistent fit for purpose engineering standards are applied
• Oversight of development and validation that the content of technical documentation is maintained to reflect the “as built” condition as per authorized modifications and changes
• Drive ongoing improvement of the operation through identification and implementation of improvement initiatives 

About you:

• Demonstrate the confidence to lead by example, hold yourself and others accountable and coach others in ‘Safety Leadership’
• Degree qualifications in Electrical Engineering with experience coaching, mentoring and guiding a team
• Experience in mining, processing, complex construction or industrial environments with a range of roles including technical support, projects and leadership
• Effective and influential team leadership experience with proven change culture demonstrated
• Experience in a senior role with technical governance, safety in design, engineering management, statutory compliance and risk management
• Well-developed communication skills with an interest in providing technical leadership, stewardship, support and solutions
• Attention to detail and finely tuned problem solving skills
