This role encompasses project management and successful delivery of an assigned portfolio of brownfield projects, in accordance with agreed project delivery processes, and in compliance with Shell’s HSSE, quality, cost and schedule requirements, and regulatory requirements. 


As part of a brownfield project delivery team, be responsible for the successful delivery of assigned portfolio of brownfield projects. 

Some of the key accountabilties of the role include; 

  • Meet the health, safety, environmental, technical, cost, quality and schedule requirements of assigned projects scope in accordance with Shell’s brownfield project management procedures, and ensure that all facility changes are managed through Shell’s MoC procedures;
  • Responsible for ensuring or generating and seeking approval for all project management documentation and stage gate approvals for the assigned portfolio of projects;
  • Generate and seek approval for contracting strategies to support the delivery of assigned portfolio of projects;
  • Closely monitor the activities of engineering contractors, vendors and construction contractors during all phases of project execution to ensure agreed project objectives are met;
  • Ensure that designs produced incorporate legislative requirements and comply with Shell’s quality assurance requirements;
  • Ensure that assigned project scope is subject to full safety reviews with hazard and operability studies (HAZOP) being utilised from flow sheet preparation through to commissioning.  Such safety reviews will include a risk analysis;
  • Ensure all contract and purchasing negotiations, evaluations and administration comply with Shell’s risk and legal requirements, and are completed ethically and impartially and that all appropriate approvals are obtained;
  • Work closely with Shell’s HSSE, engineering, production, maintenance and shutdown personnel to ensure agreed project objectives and quality standards are met;
  • Coordination of project scope interfaces;
  • Implement project management systems, standard practices and design specifications required to effectively execute the project.
  • Coordinate activities leading to commissioning, start-up and handover installed facilities, and performance evaluation post start-up, and close-out of all outstanding items;
  • Ensure lessons learnt are documented and shared with the brownfields projects team;
  • Ensure that all vendor data, design and operational information is obtained, reviewed and accessible to Operations in a timely manner;
  • Prepare and lodge all required permits and licences for construction and operation and ensuring these are secured in time;

You should have extensive experience in a Project Engineering role ideally working on multiple brownfield projects.  Having manage contractors and subcontractors you would have dealt with teams working on multiple projects  and have been able to influence external stakeholders in order to deliver on time and in budget.  You will a tertiary engineering qualification and the  ability to resolve issues with third parties and contractors through your excellent verbal and written communication skills. Good management and supervisory skills you will be able to collaborate with other core business areas to provide brownfield project delivery on time and have a tendency to be a results orientated and motivated achiever.
