Due to continued growth and demand for our services, ALS Industrial has an immediate career opportunity for a Graduate / Junior Mechanical Engineer based at our Riverview office in Queensland. The role is intended to support Senior Engineers in the provision of engineering and asset integrity services to local clients as well as major client sites throughout Australia.We are looking for an enthusiastic and "hands-on" graduate / junior engineer with a strong technical aptitude, who will be a key team member in undertaking a range of our mechanical engineering service offerings. Working under the supervision of the Senior Mechanical Engineer, this is an excellent career opportunity for an entry level Engineer wishing to begin a career in a highly technical engineering consulting environment.
About the position
- Assisting Senior Engineers in planning and executing comprehensive field measurement studies mainly in rotating equipment vibration studies, structural vibration studies, strain gauging and machine condition monitoring;
- Assist and participate in the broader Asset Integrity service offering around product testing, materials testing, failure analysis, structural inspections and general engineering consultancy for clients from the mining, power, oil & gas, transport and process industries;
- Assist with data post-processing, data analysis and the preparation of high quality technical reports for clients;
- Assisting senior personnel with commercial and administrative functions including the preparation of proposals, job procedures, safety documentation and equipment maintenance activities;
- Liaise with customers to address enquiries and ensure that their requirements are well understood and clarified, including identifying any additional support services that can be provided;
- Maintain precise technical records in accordance with company procedures and relevant standards.
About you
- Minimum qualification of a Bachelor of Engineering, preferably in Mechanical Engineering;
- 0 to 2 years of industry experience;
- Good engineering analytical skills and an aptitude in engineering statics and dynamics;
- Willingness to get your hands dirty;
- Comfortable with handling and analysing data in an engineering context;
- An inquisitive mind and open to acquiring new skills;
- Good communication skills at all levels (both written and verbal);
- Strong customer service instincts and interpersonal relationship skills;
- Ability to work both individually and as part of a larger multi-disciplinary team;
- Excellent planning and organisational skills;
- Self-motivated;
- Willingness to periodically travel to remote client sites across Australia.
Desirable Attributes
- Familiarity with MATLAB programming language;
- Good Excel Skills;
- Familiarity with data acquisition and signal processing.
