About our company
We are specialised in the development and distribution of 4WD and automotive components and equipment.
An exciting opportunity has become available for a Design Engineering Manager (BEX & DT&C) to join our growing team in our Engineering department. Reporting to our Senior Director of Engineering, the successful candidate of this position will work across our engineering teams and be responsible to ensure product designs meet regulatory guidelines and customer requirements. The candidate will also need to drive each product design thought the relevant gateways while seeking out and receiving input from the stakeholders and delivering finished product designs that have met the criteria.
Duties & responsibilities
- Complete design development and release products within agreed time frames, minimizing lead times.
- Ensure that all appropriate process is followed for product design release.
- Ability to maximize output from designers.
- Guide, nurture, mentor the design team as required.
- Prepare project timelines and ensure the targets are met.
- Ability to perform warranty analysis and provide written technical support.
- Eliminate ECR’s arising due to design error.
- Support test fits and participate in PD review meetings.
- Organize & Co-Ordinate the vehicle scans as required for design development.
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 15 + years, experience in Automotive product design.
- Knowledge in – Plastics and sheet metal product design.
- Knowledge of tooling, machining, fabrication and assembly operations.
- Degree in Engineering highly regarded.
- Previous experience in off - road product development highly regarded.
- OEM Product development experience would be highly regarded.
- CAD expertise (at least one, preferably all systems) – in SolidWorks, Siemens NX & CATIA.
- Good communication skills in both verbal and written form.
- Excellent people management skills.
- Reduce design development timing.
- Managing the design teams output.
- Guiding/Mentoring design engineering team members.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Provide creative ideas and concepts.
- Providing management with written reports on a periodic basis.
- Supporting the Product Development Director in Achieving the company objectives.
- Any new responsibilities provided by the head of engineering and from time to time.
