About Metro

We operate and maintain Melbourne’s Metropolitan train network. Successfully transporting over 400,000 passengers per day is achieved by our large dedicated workforce. With multiple large projects being completed, we continually work hand-in-hand with all external businesses involved to ensure that new assets comply with the standards we set.

As part of the Safety, Engineering & Environment division, the Office of The Chief Engineer support all operational areas in designing solutions and governing the standards set to operate a safe and reliable railway.

The Position

You will responsible for the provision of effective and timely design review services of designs submitted by the Infrastructure Delivery Team and various Project Teams in accordance with the MTM Design and Technical Review Procedure to check whether these designs meet the relevant MTM standards and defined operational requirements.

You will also discharge all responsibilities in a manner that ensures the safety of the operating system is not compromised during the life cycle of the project including safety matters related to MTM operations, the public and project related contractors and third parties.

Finally, you will liaise with our Infrastructure Delivery and Project Teams to ensure that the design standards are delivered and to advise on these principals when required. Requirements

An Engineering Degree, with professional registration/chartership couple with experience in signalling systems in design, construction and/or maintenance, within an urban passenger railway environment will be highly regarded.
