 THE COMPANY

Teys Australia operates six modern and efficient beef processing plants strategically located across the Eastern seaboard of Australia at Naracoorte, Wagga Wagga, Tamworth, Beenleigh, Rockhampton and Biloela. The Company operates three cattle feedlots located at Jindalee, Charlton and Condamine. The geographic location of the Company's operations provides an ideal alignment with the Australian cattle production system.

Teys Australia Food Solutions produces our suite of value added products, processed in dedicated and purpose built facilities. Uniquely positioned to leverage integrated raw material supply chain efficiencies, the range of products includes a range of cooked deli items, convenience meals and fresh case ready lines.

Teys Australia Murgon processes cattle hides supplied by the Company's beef processing plants.

The Company also has a share in wholesale businesses located across Brisbane, Melbourne and Adelaide.

THE POSITION

This role is based at our Wagga Wagga plant in NSW and the incumbent will be required but not limited to provide repair and maintenance services on a daily basis, as well as ensure two way communication on environmental matters, ensure downtime in minimised and ensure occupational health and safety is followed in both Plant and the Value Add .

THE PERSON

Successful candidates should possess the following:

  • Trade qualifications as a maintenance fitter
  • Knowledge of and experience in contemporary operation of food processing equipment, mechanical fitting and food waste technology
  • Hydraulic and pneumatic equipment and systems
  • TIG, MIG and stick welding in particular with stainless steel
  • Current drivers license, forklift operators license
  • Excellent communications, negotiation, leadership and technical skills
  • Familiar with VEMAG and Mulitvac equipment  

Candidates will need to demonstrate their ability to-

  • Provide repair and maintenance services on a day to day basis
  • Develop and implement systems which maximise the efficiency of and minimise costs of utilities
  • Recommend and develop initiatives which enhance productivity, efficiency and profitability of the plant
  • Ensure downtime is minimised by establishing preventative maintenance programs
  • Attend to urgent machinery breakdowns and ensure repair is carried out in a sense to reduce production loss
  • Keep abreast of technological developments in the industry and recommend implementation as necessary
  • Participate in capital works projects during annual shutdown
  • Carry out all repair work in edible production areas with a focus on food safety and housekeeping
  • Such other work as directed by the Mechanical Supervisor
  • Ensure two-way communication on environmental matters between operational staff and management
  • Implement and monitor control procedures for routine operations to prevent or minimise environmental harm.
  • Ensure that effective dry cleaning takes place in accordance with the Environmental Plan.
  • Reduce water usage wherever practical and possible.
  • Maintain an awareness of Occupational Health Safety and Welfare, Workers Compensation and Rehabilitation policies and procedures in use at the plant
  • Carry out all mechanical repairs in accordance with all Teys Australia safety systems
