Covering an area of 186,300hectares Doomadgee is a Deed of Grant in Trust (DOGIT) Community. It is situated within the Burke Shire but is governed by the Doomadgee Aboriginal Shire Council. Doomadgee is approximately 100km North West of Burketown and 130km East of the Northern Territory Border.
Job tasks and responsibilities
Use your skills to:
- Display strong leadership and encourage productivity while overseeing the Works Team
- Provide overall development and monitoring of strategic construction programs and initiative across the shire to meet the needs of the growing community over the long term
- Work collaboratively to ensure the successful integration of strategic planning across works function and to develop a spirit of cooperation and mutual support between operational areas in the pursuit of service excellence
- Provide overall leadership of the Works functions of Council
- Develop appropriate strategic direction and plans for the works functions, consistent with achieving the outcomes contained in Council's Corporate Plan
- Carry out Financial Management and development of budgets for the works functions with Councils financial strategy and to constantly seek efficiency in all aspects of resource utilisation in executing those functions, including the analysis of cost and benefit for all new initiatives
- Ensure the Departments programs are regularly monitored for economy and efficiency and that the Departments assets in all their forms are strategically managed to sustain their utility in providing service to the Council and its community
- Provide development of Works Programs and systems to ensure the management of risk and compliance will all statutory requirements
- Deliver development of processes for the measurement and regular reporting of the Departments performance against appropriate indicators and benchmarks
