Ericsson is the world-leading provider of telecommunications equipment and services to mobile and fixed network operators. Our Field Services Technicians are influential in delivering our vision into reality through planning and optional use of technology.

We currently have multiple opportunities for Field Service Technicians - with Telecommunication Transmission equipment experience. These roles are for a minimum of 6 months with a view to extend. 

Reporting to the line manager, this role is responsible for performing physical and manual activities, telecommunication infrastructure audits, installation of hardware/software systems and implementing upgrades. You would maintain and repair radio access nodes and core network transmission equipment on operational telecommunications networks. A key component of this role is to interact with other technicians, customer technical staff and varying groups within the Ericsson organisation. 

To be successful in this role you will be able to clearly demonstrate one or more of the following: 

  • Diploma in Telecommunications Engineering or similar
  • Data Centre or exchange installation experience
  • 2 or more years relevant industry experience
  • An ability to work at heights
  • Proven experience within a network rollout discipline

To be considered, candidates must have a combination of most of the following experience, qualifications and achievements:

  • A demonstrated understanding of multiple client network topologies and associated Radio access network (RAN) and Optical / Microwave Transmission infrastructure 
  • Installation and commissioning experience in high capacity transmission equipment 
  • Understand and implement RAN, RF, and Transmission designs
  • Demonstrated understanding of transmission concepts
  • Ability to read and interpret technical construction and site installation drawings.
  • Decision making and problem solving skills.
  • Flexibility in working hours
  • Willingness to travel away for 1 to 3 weeks at a time
  • Desirable to have both RAN and Core/TX installation and commissioning experience
  • Solid understanding of Telstra installation standards
  • Fibre splicing certification and experience
