Stix Catering is currently seeking an Assistant Financial Controller to drive financial control and operational reporting across their portfolio of industrial, commercial and retail catering services. This Sydney based role will assist the Senior Financial Controller to provide analytical support to the Managing Director and Department Heads and is a key player in improving the company’s performance and ongoing growth.
Some of the Duties of the role will include:
- Supporting the Senior Financial Controller with a result driven, strategic business approach
- Leading a team of six (6) in the finance department
- Monitoring financial systems to improve and streamline procedures
- Assisting with annual budget development and monthly forecasting
- Preparation of month Profit and Loss statements, Balance Sheet reconciliations, cash flows, payroll tax, IAS, Management reports / dashboards, client specific reporting and invoicing, quarterly BAS and ad hoc tax matters in accordance with deadlines and priorities
- Being directly responsible and accountable for the financial information across the group
- Ensuring all payments to suppliers are balanced, approved, authorised and paid on time
- Reviewing and monitoring accounts receivable to ensure payments are paid within payment terms
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- At least 3 years of experience in a similar role
- Previous experience in hotels or within the hospitality industry preferred
- Tertiary Accounting qualification
- Membership of a relevant professional body (CPA, CA) or studying towards
- Strong organisational, negotiation and technical skills
- High level of verbal and written communication with a strong eye for detail
- Proven ability to train, develop and lead team members
- Effective time management skills
- Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, prior experience with MYOB (or similar accounting package), Impos, Revel, Tyro and Events Pro software will be an advantage
