The Melbourne Football Club (MFC) is the founding club of the AFL. Based at Australia's most iconic sports stadium, the Melbourne Cricket Ground, it is part of the fabric of the city of Melbourne.
  
As an emerging team in the competition, MFC has a significant opportunity to engage new audiences to build a strong, and sustainable future. This newly created position will be a key support to the Business Development team.

Position Summary/Objective
The Business Development Coordinator (BDC) supports the Business Development team in the day-to-day delivery of new commercial business opportunities for the Melbourne Football Club. The successful BDC is a self-starter that is extremely detail‐oriented, an active‐listener, proactive communicator, and able to take direction and follow process. The successful applicant will be responsible for identifying and prospecting new commercial customers to facilitate growth across the club’s commercial revenue streams; including experiences, corporate hospitality, sponsorship and advertising.
  
Key Areas of Responsibility
  • Support the Business Development Executive to research and identify potential new customers within the South East Melbourne Growth Corridor.
  • Cold call as appropriate to ensure a robust pipeline of opportunities.
  • Support the development of pitches, including proposal literature, and coordinating with internal design and content departments.
  • Manage responses and follow up with potential customers.
  • Pipelining, including CRM management and reporting.
  • Develop relationships with key stakeholder groups and third parties who assist to reach new audiences, e.g. Chambers of Commerce and Government Departments.
  • Develop and maintain a broad knowledge of industry movements and activity.
  • Support Deliver sales across MFC commercial products, including, but not limited to, experiences, corporate hospitality, and partnership opportunities.
  
Competencies and Key Attributes
  • Strong ability to communicate with new customers, via phone, email or in person.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time appropriately to maximise opportunity conversion.
  • Motivated with the ability to work autonomously to tight deadlines and with minimal supervision
  • Effective communicator with the ability to connect with multiple personality types.
  • Excellent presentation and developed relationship building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability in identifying and winning new business is a plus.
  
Qualifications and Experience
  • 2+ years’ in a sales or business development related role
  • A tertiary qualification in a business related discipline is an advantage
  
Additional Requirements
  • Position offered will be subject to a Working with Children's Check.
  • Be available on match days and other club events which may be outside of normal business hours.
  • Valid Drivers License
