The Role

A fantastic opportunity exists for a talented Program Manager, Learning and Organisational Development (L&OD) to join our team at Epworth Healthcare, and to play a driving role in scoping, designing and developing a range of high impact learning and organisational development experiences for our people as we enter our next strategic horizon for 2018.

Reporting to the Group Manager, Organisational Development, this role will maintain and enhance a number of valued employee experience initiatives already in place across the group, whilst also driving the innovative design and implementation of new and refreshed key people strategies - specifically around talent, leadership, learning, performance and recognition. You will be empowered to apply a balance of both traditional OD frameworks and more contemporary, cutting-edge approaches such as Design Thinking/Human Centred Design.

This is an exciting time to join Epworth Healthcare as we are days away from embarking on our new strategic horizon for 2018 and beyond. This key role presents a unique opportunity to influence the future direction of our people strategy and employee experience across the group, working alongside and co-creating with all levels, including other senior leaders and our Executive team.

Skills & Experience

In terms of the person we are looking for, you must be an optimistic, adaptable, open-minded, motivated and capable L&OD professional with demonstrated success in managing a wide number of group wide organisational learning and development, talent and leadership initiatives. Experience managing more junior L&OD professionals and teams is also ideal. Those with a background in Organisational Psychology Consulting who are truly customer centric are also encouraged to apply.

Bringing a naturally consultative, collaborative and flexible approach to working with a wide variety of stakeholders, you are seen as a trusted advisor. You have honed your ability to engage and influence at all levels, and whilst you have developed senior expertise in learning and organisational development, you are also focused on your own continued personal and professional development. This means you're keen to keep learning and open to adopting new and contemporary approaches such as Human Centred Design to enhance employee experience and engagement. Ultimately you are motivated by the opportunity to deliver strategic programs of work that will make a sustainable difference in the lives of our employees, our patients and our community.

Tertiary qualifications in Organisation Psychology, Human Resources or a related field, coupled with solid technical knowledge and thorough understanding of contemporary learning and organisational development practices are essential.

A Typical Day in the Role

A typical day might see you meet with any number of senior leaders (including Executive and CEO at times) to understand emerging learning and organisational capability needs, or to discuss how you can support them to effectively implement group-wide initiatives in their part of Epworth. You will also work closely with our divisional People and Culture team to identify how priority initiatives can be introduced to have the greatest impact for leaders and employees in a way that also respects operational requirements. You'll work on scoping and designing exciting new initiatives, particularly those that enable us to deliver on our new Empowered People strategy, leveraging some of the innovative approaches we are introducing such as design thinking.

You might 'huddle' with your immediate team at the start of the day - to sound out ideas, support one another, seek feedback and present updates on the progress of particular projects, along with sharing key challenges and accomplishments from the past week. You'll spend time coaching and providing guidance to more junior members of the L&OD team, and you'll receive the same support, empowerment and guidance from the Group Manager OD.

At the end of each quarter, you will be able to look back and identify the impact your work has had on the organisation, both through established programs and progress towards implementing new initiatives and employee experiences. You and the team will have been empowered to use best-practice research and to explore new paradigms and frameworks to inform improvement ideas and see them steadily come to life to the benefit of our leaders, employees and ultimately - our patients. After all, that's why we are all here.
