We are passionate about constantly providing value to our clients - their business success is our priority. This focus on client value is a key reason for our success.

The role:

We are currently looking for an experienced People & Development Manager to join our national People & Development, based in our Melbourne office.

Working closely with both Melbourne based and interstate colleagues, this position reports into the Chief People and Development Officer (based in Adelaide), draws assistance from the national team including a P&D Coordinator and Recruitment Specialist. The position is a key liaison and support to the Melbourne office of approximately 180 people.

Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Performance and productivity management, including advising managers and Partners on performance management and disciplinary processes, as well as management of the annual performance review process
  • Providing accurate and informed advice on policy and procedure, including monitoring changes to legal industry compliance requirements, industrial instruments and emerging HR trends

  • Working with the Recruitment Co-ordinator in recruitment and selection processes, including interviewing and strategic sourcing
  • Providing commercially astute generalist HR support and advice to managers, Partners and staff

Ideal candidate:

This position will suit a pragmatic and personable HR professional who enjoys rolling up their sleeves and looking after all operational facets of an HR position. You will have outstanding communication skills and be confident in your ability to build relationships and influence decision making.

You will have solid experience in a similarly broad generalist role with significant hands on experience in sensitively dealing one-on-one with stakeholders in the business. This role is very fast paced with a real mix of people interaction and analytical writing. You have to enjoy (and be good at) both the people and analytical side of HR. A key appreciation of the commercial contribution HR makes to the business is key.

Experience within professional services or legal is not necessary for this position. We welcome applications from candidates with diverse industry backgrounds looking to try something new.
