About the role:

As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the role will report to and work with the EGM of People and Culture to guide the design and implementation of Safety strategies and priorities for the Executive Leadership Team's approval, and will be a key thought leader and enabler to deliver on Our Safety Promise.

Duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Drive an integrated, transformational and leading approach to Safety Leadership across the organisation that supports the strategic direction and champions the customer and employee experience
  • Translate broad strategy into practical terms for implementation, and create a shared understanding across the organisation of what has to be achieved
  • Ensure robust project management methodology is in place to lead and drive key Safety initiatives across the business
  • Develop, implement and maintain business continuity plans.
  • Review current practices and identify and implement initiatives that mitigate operational risks.
  • Ensure the Safety suite of policies and procedures and subsequent systems meet the organisation's and legislative requirements
  • Partner with business leaders to review outcomes of investigations ensuring recommendations to prevent or minimize recurrence are developed and implemented
  • Oversee and facilitate Endeavour Foundation's Emergency Response Management processes
  • Develop effective Safety communication systems
  • Partner with Group and Area Safety Improvement Committees (ASIC's) ensuring effective engagement, consultation and communication occurs to empower regional safety initiatives and enable continuous improvement
  • Oversee the management of statutory Workers' Compensation and Common Law claims
  • Support and guide the WHS and Customer Safety Leads to establish policies and systems to manage investigations conducted by the Safety Team and to monitor and analyse safety data across the organisations, identifying trends and feed recommendations into the relevant Practice Framework, Safety Alerts and improvement activities.
  • Implement systems to facilitate accurate and timely reporting of Safety statistics and analysis to internal and external stakeholders supported by action recommendations
  • Network on a regular basis with external agencies and government departments to identify industry trends and appropriate control strategies that assist in creating strong Safety culture and promoting the Zero Harm/Zero Tolerance philosophy within Endeavour

About you:

  • Demonstrated success in implementation of Behavioural Safety philosophy, processes, education programs and tools across multi-faceted organisations
  • Detailed knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety legislation and an ability to interpret and implement pragmatic organisational systems to ensure compliance
  • Demonstrated experience in risk management, audit and investigations processes and the implementation of findings and actions
  • Intuitive interpersonal and communication skills
  • Well-developed written communication skills and analytical ability
  • Demonstrated detailed problem solving skills
  • Proven ability to project manage multi-faceted projects

Skills, Experience & Education:

  • Tertiary qualification in WHS or similar
  • Post Graduate qualification in WHS (desirable)
  • Experience in Behavioural Safety programs
  • Accredited in Root Cause analysis tools i.e. Taproot/ICAM
  • Demonstrated advance use and operation of Microsoft suite products
  • Experience in Safety Management systems, data collation & interpretation
  • Minimum of 8 years in Lead WHS role with organisational wide accountabilities in a multi-faceted business
  • Experience in the implementation of Behavioural Safety philosophy which resulted in improved safety culture and reduction in incidents
