About the role

CHC Helicopter is looking to appoint an experienced HR Business Partner to join the Human Resources team based in their Perth Head Office. Reporting to the HR Director, the HRBP will work closely with the HR Director to provide true generalist support to the teams and managers in this fast paced, diverse and exciting environment.

Key responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • A visible safety champion who will challenge unsafe acts and pursue improvements in safety culture and behaviour.
  • Develops highly effective and productive relationships with key stakeholders internally and externally including regulators, employee groups and trade unions.
  • Interpret HR policies and employment legislation and advice on risk management.
  • Constructively challenge decisions which are not in the best interest of the organisation.
  • Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to line management, promoting positive change in people management and overall performance improvement.
  • Work in partnership with management teams to identify the people implications of business plans to maximise opportunities, support change and manage risk.
  • Ensure the legal compliance with corporate policies, governmental laws and regulations, covering all areas of labour relations.
  • Support negotiation dealings with industrial relations including enterprise bargaining negotiations.
  • Provide guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning.
  • Coach managers in assuming increasing responsibility for all aspects of people management.
  • Drive communication at all levels of the organization to ensure employee engagement.
  • Extensive travel nationally.

Skills and experience

Skills and experience:

  • Degree in human resources or related field with post graduate work in a related field is desirable.
  • A minimum of 5-8 years human resources experience with at least two (2) years in a HR Business Partner position is preferred.
  • Relevant aviation industry experience is preferred but not necessary.
  • Working knowledge of human resource disciplines including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis and design, employee and union relations, diversity, performance management and respective employment laws.
  • Working knowledge of Enterprise bargaining, grievances and disputes handling.
  • Creative, resourceful, and pragmatic with a positive 'can do' and solution-focused attitude.
  • Team player with exceptional organizational and communications skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in the management of high capacity operations.
  • A visible safety champion who will challenge unsafe acts and pursue improvements in safety culture and behaviour.
  • Adaptable and Flexible approach to a dynamic global matrix environment.
  • Business acumen and commercially driven.
