Regional site support is provided through Newmont Asia Pacific’s (APAC) Perth team which is located in modern offices in Subiaco where we provide support to operations in Australia and Indonesia.

Purpose

Reporting to the Regional Director of Health, Safety and Security (HSS), the Principal Advisor Safety & Risk Management has the responsibility for contributing to the development of Health and Safety strategies and coaching in their implementation across the Region. You will provide leadership in the development of systems and processes aligned with corporate expectations and Regional conditions

 

This exciting role will provide leadership to the business in Health and Safety and work with all of the sites in the identification of opportunities for improving safety and health performance and taking a leadership role to identify and successfully implement solutions.

Some Key Accountabilities

  • Facilitate and assist in the alignment of Health and Safety objectives and management approach between the region and sites.
  • Contribute to the site management teams as appropriate to achieve alignment of goals and outcomes.
  • Leadership in identifying opportunities for sharing leading practices and ensuring information is shared in a timely and effective manner with sites.
  • Leadership in data analysis and reporting across the Region, and working with sites in the use of data to make effective decisions.
  • Leadership in the implementation of the Global Integrated Management System across the Region.
  • Leadership in the development of emergency response system and approaches across the Region to ensure capability is maintained.

Skills & Experience

  • Substantial experience (10+ years) in health and safety.
  • 5+ years in a senior health and safety role/leadership role.
  • 5+ years in a mining or heavy industrial environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Health and Safety, or allied area.
  • Significant practical experience in the application of Risk Management systems and processes in an operating environment

Working Conditions

Significant travel to sites will be required and as such it is expected that you will work a flexible roster to fit in with site operations and to maximise the value of travel to and from sites.
