Reporting to the General Manager Human Resources, you will be responsible for providing specialist advice and timely information to managers regarding the prevention and resolution of employee and industrial relations matters, including grievances, formal complaint management, disciplinary matters and terminations for HWNS/The Tipping Foundation and ensuring organisation wide ER compliance in line with relevant legislative requirements.

As an experienced ER Manager, you will have significant employee relations experience (5+ years) including negotiation of industrial agreements and representation at Fair Work conciliations, hearings and disputes.

Integral to your success will be your ability to prioritise and deal with complex employee relations matters in alignment with our organisational values.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Provide high level advice to senior managers and key stakeholders across the full range of HR/IR/ER policy, programs and practice and mitigate potential risks.
  • Develop enterprise agreements and lead the bargaining and implementation process.
  • Provide oversight, guidance and management on major disciplinary and grievance investigations, ensuring adherence to organisational policies and legislative requirements.
  • Effectively manage ER/IR functions; providing and sourcing advice on industrial matters and be the primary contact for unions and associated external parties.
  • Ensure organisation wide ER compliance in line with relevant legislative requirements.

What you will need to be successful:

  • Degree qualified in Human Resource Management, Law or Industrial Relations.
  • Expert knowledge of contemporary employee relations issues and best practice.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Previous experience working with a highly unionised workforce and negotiating with industrial Unions.
  • Demonstrated experience and success in managing change in a complex environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of and commitment to workplace safety.
  • Previous experience working within a government environment highly desirable.
  • Understanding of the regulatory requirements and public policy of the disability sector desirable.
