The role

This national role, reporting to the Head of People Safety Operations is a business partner to the central Online leadership team. This role is accountable for guiding the leadership team to create a sustainable and continually improving operating model for Coles online that delivers strong performance and effectively manages health, safety and wellbeing.

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • sound knowledge, skill and experience in Occupational Health and Safety, Environment, Risk and Traffic Management and vehicle safety
  • proven record of achieving results and leading change within a fast-paced dynamic environment (online retail preferred)
  • clear demonstration of ability to incorporate safety requirements while considering commercially viable and practical solutions
  • demonstrated ability in motivating multiple cross-functional teams and forums to adopt safety as a core value
  • proven capability in developing safety plans & strategies that are aligned to business objectives and generate passion and commitment
  • a degree/post graduate qualification in health and safety or related discipline and/or at least 5+ years of experience in conducting safety risk assessments and providing practical guidance to businesses on implementation
  • strong stakeholder management and highly developed influencing skills
  • highest calibre of communication skills
  • operate with the highest level of commercial integrity
  • strong records management skills under quality management system
  • ability to operate under pressure and with autonomy
  • ideally experience operating within a self-insurance environment

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • be a trusted expert, providing safety advice to the Coles Online Team to effectively integrate practical safety into decision making and ensure a focus on effective risk reduction
  • drive safety improvement and risk reduction in Coles Online by reviewing and analysing data to provide insight and actions. Partner and lead the Online team to deliver and imbed these outcomes
  • where system failures have been identified, through investigations or other matters, support the Head of People Safety to influence the business on change required and manage the change from its inception to roll out including research, planning, implementation and close out across the online team
  • act as the key escalation point nationally for online related compliance and safety matters that effect the system at a national level
  • provide guidance and support to the State Online and State Safety teams to enable them to effectively implement programs at store level
  • develop, implement and manage training programmes for Coles Online team members which factor in national standards, compliance and safety measures
