Role

The Hockey Victoria (HV) Human Resources & Business Administration - Manager is primarily responsible for leading the HR functions and Business Administration of the organisation.

The Human Resources & Business Administration - Manager, with the CEO, will oversee and manage the consistent delivery of recruitment and on boarding of staff, performance plans and reviews of staff, maintain all HV policies and procedures relating to employees and maintain and monitor HV's commitment and adherence to the Child Safety Standards of Victoria.

The Human Resources & Business Administration - Manager will oversee the day to day office operation, including IT and administration. Furthermore, this role will oversee HV's Membership activities.

Child safety is a shared responsibility between Hockey Victoria and its Staff, Affiliates, suppliers, associates, parents, guardians, spectators, Volunteers and all members of the Hockey Victoria community. Everyone who participates in Hockey Victoria's activities is responsible for the care and protection of Children, and reporting information about Child Abuse.

 

Principal Duties

Human Resource Management
• Identifying, developing and maintaining HR policies and procedures
• Providing timely and professional advice to Executive managers and staff in relation to all HR, industrial and employee relations matters.
• Develop & Coordinate HV's Health and Wellbeing Program for staff.
• Development of Staff Performance and career progression plans.
• Support the CEO in coordinating and facilitating the delivery of performance appraisals
• HR Administration

Child Safety Standards
• Drive the organisational compliance with the seven Child Safety Standards
• Maintain the organisational Risk Assessment pertaining to Child Safety Standards
• Act as the first point of contact for all Child Safety matters, both internally and externally

Recruitment

Manage the selection and recruitment processes including:
• Review of position needs with relevant manager and Executive
• Development of Position Descriptions with relevant manager
• Management of advertising and enquiries
• Assisting the manager with shortlisting, telephone and face to face interview preparation
• Developing appropriate interview questionnaires and other selection processes as appropriate.
• Interview involvement and/or support including reference checking.

Prepare employment contracts, independent contractor contracts and volunteer engagement letters.
• Manage and deliver the induction process for new employees.
• Manage and deliver relevant education to HV Board, Staff and Volunteers.
• Working with the Executive team, develop a Part time and casual workforce responsible for the delivery of social hockey formats, recruitment program and athlete development programs.

Business Administration
• Manage the internal resources and administration of Hockey Victoria including IT requirements, office operations et cetera.
• Oversee the Membership Database and its use by the HV Staff, HV Affiliates and players & officials.
• Oversee the coordination of Hockey Victoria's major Affiliate events and functions including; AGM, Presidents Meetings, HV Awards Night and Corporate Functions relating to the Melbourne (Australian Hockey League team).
• Prepare and manage annual budgets relating to HR and Business Administration
• Support the CEO & COO in servicing the sponsors of Hockey Victoria.

Other Duties
• Member of the HV Risk & Governance Sub-Committee
• Any other duties as reasonable, and as requested by the CEO.

 

Position Skill Requirements

The position requires a high level of interpersonal and administration skills as well as the ability to prioritise tasks whilst maintaining organisational goals. Specific requirements include:
• Relevant experience (minimum 3 years) in Human Resource Management
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Human Resource Management or equivalent.
• Knowledge and experience in developing and applying HR policies, Awards, Workplace laws.
• Knowledge and experience with the end to end recruitment process.
• Demonstrated strength in developing and sustaining stakeholder relationships.
• Demonstrated ability to plan work, meet deadlines and manage time effectively – to work autonomously and within a team environment.
• Demonstrated understanding of the Child Safety Standards of Victoria.
• Experience in managing the day to day operations of the administration of a business.
• Experience in membership system management
• Experience in servicing sponsors

Desirable Experience:
• Sporting industry experience or knowledge
• Knowledge of sporting culture and organisations at a community level
• An understanding of the volunteer workforce and an ability to work within the constraints caused by the nature of that workforce.

 

Key Performance Indicators

• Successful review and implementation of any changes to HV's Policies and Procedures
relating to employees of the organisation.
• Full compliance with the Child Safety Standards
• Budget management
• 90% affiliate satisfaction relating to Membership Database
• Successfully develop a workforce to deliver the responsible for the delivery of social hockey formats, recruitment program and athlete development programs.

Maintain relationships with relevant organisations including:
• HV Staff
• HV Affiliates
• Hockey Australia
• Key external stakeholders (State & local government and sponsors)

Location

The position is located at the State Netball Hockey Centre, Brens Drive, Parkville. A car park will be provided.
