About the role: 

As the Payroll Compliance Specialist you are expected to help maintain the quality of the developed SaaS based software by identifying defects, suggest improvements with the focus on automating software testing. In this role you are expected to keep up to date with legislative changes in both Australia and New Zealand.

What you will be doing:

  • Be responsible for identifying defects and improvements in the payroll software
  • Quality assurance of the payroll project within provided timeline
  • Review of software requirements
  • Develop test plans and test cases with sign-off from project stakeholders
  • Assist developers in understanding requirements, create acceptance tests
  • Perform functional and regression testing
  • Prepare automation scripts for validation, performance and service testing
  • Communicate defects and solutions effectively to product owners and developers
  • Participate in an agile development environment
  • Liaise with development and product to facilitate the changes to payroll
  • Timelessly prepare test cases to meet requirements and legislative deadlines
  • Staying up to date with legislation for Australia and New Zealand
  • Regular checks that need to be undertaken for each payroll release.

What we are after:

  • Core payroll domain knowledge in Australia and preferably other countries including New Zealand, at least 7 years
  • Comprehensive knowledge of tax calculations, legislative calculations and how to write test cases to perform these checks time and time again
  • An eye for the finer detail, and the ability to spot check the payroll to identify any potential issues before they become a critical issue
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to liaise directly with the development team to clearly explain findings and provide guidance in resolving issues
  • Excellent documentation skills to enable complex test cases to be clearly documented and executed;
  • Ability to understand complex integrated solutions and to ensure workflow processes are operating as intended
  • Knowledge of and ability to understand modern awards for Australia and New Zealand.
